It’s no secret that the last couple of years has been challenging, probably an understatement for most. But we have had to adopt a mindset of never giving up, being adaptive and thinking to the future and how the pandemic has redesigned the world and how we operate within businesses.
Within APEX, we have a mantra with five prominent points: integrity, mindset, attitude, consistency, and the Pursuit of excellence. But Lewis Papa, Owner of APEX, has the mood for growth and scaling a business. With a genuine belief to be the most recognisable brand within the UK.
Lewis said, “When the pandemic hit the UK, we had two options. Give in. Or grab the bull by its horns and drive forward. We had no other choice! Josh and I (Lewis’s brother) decided to use this as an opportunity to scale. We saw that banks and other brokers were making people redundant. We open the doors and flood gates.”
APEX quickly went from having an 8-man team based in the North to the present having a 32-man team with an entire UK presence, with a few more joining in the coming months.
Their attitude to growth and scale has seen them become a Top 20 UK firm within the largest Mortgage Network. Which hasn’t gone unrecognised, they were a finalist for Best Broker in the UK (Under 40 staff) in the prestigious Mortgage Introducer Awards, narrowly missing out to a top established firm. And Winners of the SME award for Best Innovative Broker, with their modern twist to lead generation and processes.
Josh said ‘With the growth mindset and initial business plan that we developed over two years ago on my dining room table, we made the whole business about helping people grow to their full potential. Whether that is with utilising my lending background both in the residential, buy to let or commercial market, or Lewis with his extensive knowledge of insurance products. We wanted to create a business where people will be able to join and enjoy the journey with us.”
Lewis and Josh have enjoyed the growth process, but it hasn’t come without frustration and a massive learning curve. They achieved this by building the company’s foundations with a strict administration process, scalable marketing capabilities and a leadership team. Both are looking forward to the future and seeing what they can achieve with APEX Mortgage & Protection in the future. Their final message to anyone thinking of scale and growth would be…..
