No.  There are lots of businesses exhibiting that offer services to people such as.

  1. Health, well-being, and fitness
  2. Wills, Probate and POA
  3. Buying and Selling Houses
  4. Financial; Mortgages, Pensions/Savings

It’s not ethical to sell and promote your business when the stand holders have paid to exhibit.

It is, however, good, and encouraged, to connect, engage and support the stand holders.

If, however, you do want to exhibit then please email hello@thebchey.net for more information.

To promote your products and services, to help you make new connections, leads, and ultimately gain new clients.

Prior to announcing and launching The Hull Business Expo we formed an ‘Expo Focus Group’. The focus group’s aim was/is to listen to businesses that have previous experience of exhibiting, listen to their frustrations (as well as the things that work well) and learn from marketers and influencers.

We wanted to eliminate any barriers and distractions that may prevent people visiting your stand while asking the group for new ideas.

Let’s be honest – you pay your money to get people to visit your stand – the right people.

We will continue to talk to the focus group as the event grows closer and we value your input too.
We intend to invite all exhibitors to Hull Minster 1) to see the event space, and 2) pick their spot to exhibit. Once we have set a day/time we will let you know.

We are looking to allocate all the businesses that service the public/people a place within the main minster and outside in Trinity Square.

We will be inviting stand holders to visit the event space in mid/late February. During this time, you will be able to pick your own spot. We will email you with details re timings in mid-February.

We are encouraging all stand holders to do this.

How to make the most of the Expo

As an exhibitor to help you make the most of The Hull Business Expo, please read.
It is important that you ‘spread the word’. Don’t leave it just to the event organisers. Reach out to your clients, connections, and contacts. You can do this via emails, newsletters, social media, and word of mouth.

If all stand holders do this the event will be a massive success
The event organisers are using the hashtag #HullBizExpo to promote the event. You are encouraged to do the same across all your social medial channels.

The more engagement the more PR and ultimately the more people will attend the Expo.
Ensure you allow plenty of travel time and setup time. You will have access to the event space from 6am on the day. Everything

Should be setup by 9:30am.

You will not be allowed in after 9:30am.

Ensure sure your stand is set up properly and everything is working. Make sure all literature, freebies, notepads and pens are in the right place.
First impression count!

Make sure your stand is engaging and it is clear what you offer, make sure you are presentable, make sure you know what you are going to say and make sure you have businesses cards and other marketing material to hand.

Be engaging – Smile!

Don’t sit behind your stand looking at your phone.
Check out the exhibitor list and floorplan(s). Are there an competitors in the room. If so, check them out. Are there any stand holders that you feel would be a good connection. If so, make sure you say ‘Hi’ and introduce yourself. Remember, stand holders may become clients and/or introducers.

At all exhibitions, visitors like to receive gifts so, make sure you think about what to bring.  The last thing you want is your hard-earned money being discarded in the bin. Make your freebies relevant and interesting and something that will be used over and over again. It goes without saying that all your freebies should be branded.

This is a massive point.  The team you bring on the day should be engaging, confident, know what you do and offer, be presentable and be happy smiley people.

Your people should be briefed, they should have a clear message and understand your objectives.

Some do-nots.  Chewing gum, on their mobiles, eating at the stand and inappropriate clothing for your brand.

Bringing the wrong people and it can damage your brand.

Greet visitors warmly and encourage them to explore your stand and products. Facial expressions are important, make sure your team is smiling and responding to what the visitor is saying.

It is important to remember that’s it’s not just about talking, listen to what your visitors are saying and asking for.

Overstaffed stands may look crowded and discourage people from visiting, it could look intimidating.

Don’t forget to take pictures of your stand during the show. Photograph your stand when it’s busy, include different angles, key features and graphics. Capture visitors interacting with staff etc. Share photos during the event on your main social media platforms, using the official show hashtag - #HullBizExpo.

It will be a busy day, so it is very important that you and your staff take lunch and regular breaks.

Make sure you note down all the details of the person to whom you have spoken. What services they were interested in? What company they work for? How you promised to contact them?

Marketing does not end after the exhibition. The sooner you follow up with your leads the better the chance of turning them into sales. Try to stay in touch and send follow up emails within one week.
