We're delighted to announce that one of our members FR Scott has been shortlisted as a finalist for Small Business of the Year at the Hull & East Yorkshire Business Awards 2026.
The award recognises businesses in East Yorkshire with fewer than 50 employees that demonstrate commercial success alongside outstanding customer service, innovation, investment in people and a positive contribution to their local community.
The judging process looks beyond financial performance, examining what makes a business successful today and how it is preparing for the future.
Several areas of progress helped FR Scott to be selected as a finalist.
Commercial growth: Three consecutive years of significant turnover growth and winning new supply contracts. Including the Mechanical & Electrical department succesfully tendering for the East Riding Council contract earlier this year.
Investing in people: Supporting apprenticeships, professional qualifications and career progression across the business.
Innovation: Developing and improving managed Kanban stock solutions, digital ordering platforms and technology to help their customers save time, effort and money.
Customer service: Continuing to build strong customer relationships, supported by almost 2,000 five-star customer reviews for their online brand Fix and Fast
Community involvement: Supporting Hull & East Yorkshire Powerchair Football Club, Dove House Hospice, Men in Sheds, Wilberforce College, local grassroots sport and local education initiatives.
Future growth: Investing in their supply chain, expanding and improvong product ranges and developing new commerical opportunities across the UK.
As part of the judging process, FR Scott had the opportunity to show the judges around their Hull headquarters, based in Canning Street, introducing them to their colleagues and demonstrating the hard work taking place across the business.
As an 81 year old businees the nomination is just as much about the future as it is about the past.
Being shortlisted is recognition of the hard work and commitment of the entire FR Scott team, whose dedication to their customers continues to drive them forward.
