For some learners, a traditional classroom just doesn’t feel like the right fit. For Scarlett Bignell, choosing an apprenticeship was about finding a path that matched how she learns best, practical, hands-on, and real-world.
Scarlett is currently completing a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship while working at Scooter Solutions. From day one, the opportunity to learn while earning and make a real impression in the workplace stood out to her.
“I wanted to work, earn, and develop a career at the same time,” Scarlett explains. “The apprenticeship gave me the time and space to grow my skills and confidence.”
Scarlett’s role is varied and fast-paced. Her responsibilities include:
Planning and organising events such as scooter rallies and trade shows
Supporting marketing activity and promoting the business
Managing and developing the company website — despite having no previous web design experience
Handling day-to-day admin tasks including invoices, ordering, and general office support
By stepping outside her comfort zone and pushing herself to learn new skills, Scarlett has played an active role in helping the business grow.
A key part of Scarlett’s success has been the support around her. At work, she describes her colleagues as encouraging and approachable. At Avant Skills Academy, she highlights the outstanding teaching, welcoming atmosphere, and genuine care shown by tutors and support staff.
“I never dread going into work or training, I actually look forward to it.”
One of Scarlett’s proudest achievements has been believing in herself, moving into a new workplace, tackling unfamiliar challenges, and growing in confidence, particularly in customer-facing situations.
