Business Culture members, Jess Clark and Dave Spittlehouse raised a total of £1,437.87 for Action Duchenne, the charity seeking a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The pair both overcame a fear of heights when they willingly jumped out of a plane at 15,000 feet.
Jess says:
“I am genuinely terrified of heights and before the jump, I had been nervous about looking down out of the plane. The scariest moment for me was when the door opened and the plane was filled with a rush of freezing cold air. They don’t give you time to panic, instead bustle you to the exit and as soon as my feet left the plane, all my fear disappeared as I flew towards earth at 120mph. It’s hard to describe the feeling, the instructor had said it’s like putting your head out of a car window, but he got that wrong! The freefall lasted for 60 seconds, although it feels longer. It was absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to go again, just so I can take it all in.”
Dave says:
"Like Jess I also have a fear of heights so I was very apprehensive about doing the jump. Once I arrived at Hibaldstow Skydive my fears started to disappear, the instructors and staff on site are fantastic at putting you at ease. It is a quick journey up to 15,000ft while laughing and joking with the instructors and camera crew but when the door opens the rush of air, noise of the engines and incredible view means the time has arrived. Once you leave the plane the thrill of falling at 120mph towards the ground is literally like nothing on earth. After a perfect landing I said everyone should do it so if you are thinking about it don't hesitate and go for it."
