Turns out the answer was the thing we were already best at...

I want to be honest with you. I messed up big time.

As anybody who follows me on social media will know, I've been having some health issues over the past year or so that have impacted my confidence, and ultimately my work.

Recently, I reached the point where I felt it was time to throw in the towel. I made the decision to myself that it was better to have tried, and that it was time to go and get a "real" job.

Until I posted publicly that I was looking for employment that is...

Almost immediately I was inundated with messages from friends and peers, with messages ranging from "I'm gutted to hear this but do what you believe is right", right up to "f**k off, you're too good to quit".

The person who was most upset by my decision was Katie. She's stood by me through every single up and down of building a business, and wouldn't let me go down without a fight.

The reason, in hindsight, is simple. At some point over the past year I've been given bad advice, and I've internalised it.

I've spent the best part of 7 years building a reputation as THE email designer in the area. And I've spent even longer in the design and marketing world making plenty of designs which are still in use years later.

But at some point I've taken the advice of "be a category of one and invent your own space" to a ridiculous degree.

I can be honest now, and so can you... What on earth is a "sales system"? If I struggle to explain it, then how can I expect a client to understand what they're paying for.

Fast forward to one weekend in the middle of October. I sat down with Katie to work out exactly what people have paid us both for over the past 10 years, and started to rebuild the business around that.

Turns out, what we were always the best at is what people have been paying us for all along.

I have 10+ years of experience in all kinds of creative roles. I've developed brands for everything from day 1 start-ups to international brands, I've created campaign emails that have contributed to 7-figure turnovers, and Katie has spent the better part of a decade bringing in record breaking income for charities and non-profits all over the world, all whilst others in the industry were shutting their doors thanks to the lockdowns and economic downturns.

We've had to do a lot of soul searching to get us here, but now we're proud to shout about who we are.

We're Mike and Katie. We're Glass Creative. We're your brand and email people.

We both want to meet as many of you as possible, so please get in touch with us directly and check out glasscreative.co.uk for more about what we offer.
