Giving Tuesday, taking place on Tuesday 1st December, is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
This year your local sight loss charity, Sight Support HEY, is launching a special appeal to celebrate the day.
Since lock down began in March, the charity has made more than 7,000 proactive telephone calls to ensure blind and partially sighted people across Hull and East Yorkshire remain safe and supported during some of the most challenging times they have ever faced. People like Jean and Michael:

That’s why this Giving Tuesday the charity is aiming to raise enough money to fund its telephone lines for an entire year so it can continue to be there for anyone with a visual impairment who needs its support.
“A donation of just £8 could help to keep our telephone lines open for one day,” explains Sight Support’s Fundraising Manager, Angela Gregory. “And could make a huge difference to the life of a local person with sight loss. At a time when we are all experiencing the challenges of the pandemic, generosity is what brings us all together and gives everyone the power to make a positive change in the lives of others”.
