You asked – We Answered

Yes. We ask for a 12-month commitment so we can support you and your business journey properly and help you get the most from the membership.
We don't offer trial events, as we are more than just your typical networking group. We are a business community that organises lots of different types of events. But we are happy to have a chat and see if it feels like we are the fit right for you.
We cannot answer that question. We do not work on a referral basis.

We have built a business community that have all promised to help and support each other and to use each other’s products and services when they can.

We discourage heavy sales tactics and pressure to brings referrals to the table.

There are other groups that you can join that do solely focus on referrals - that's not us.
We have several membership packages to suit business needs and budgets. For example, to simply list your business its £15 + vat a month.

Our most popular package is the 'Business Membership' which is £45 + vat. This package gets you everything we offer.

Here is a link to the membership page for more information… https://thebusinessculture.co.uk/hey/join-us/
Currently we have 3 fixed meetings a month which are; 1st and 3rd Wednesdays and 4th Thursdays.

We also have 1 other during the month. This could be, a speaker event, an open networking event, a social event, a roundtable support meeting, or a VIP private dining meeting.

Each are designed to be different. This is because we know people are different, some like one thing over another. If we did operate like a traditional networking group, we are restricting what they can attend.

This is why we are different.

Yes and no.  If the venue offers us their premises, refreshments, and food for free, we do not then pass this cost on to the members - it’s free to attend.  If we are charged for the facilities, we then charge a nominal fee of £10 + vat per person.

Throughout the year this tends to be 50/50.

No, although most of our members are based in the HU postcode area.

The only caveat we have if a business is looking to join our business club is ‘are you willing to take a phone call from a fellow member if they need help and support'.  If the answer is 'yes' then they are welcome to join the club.

This then naturally forms a mutual support group.

As of June 2025 we have 171 business members and 6,012 individual members.  The reason there is two figures is because, unlike traditional networking groups, the business is the member and not the individual. So, if you join your staff are members by default.

Absolutely.  Because your business is the member any of your team can attend our events.  If there is a charge for the event, then this charge would apply to your staff too.

No as it’s the business that is the member, therefore, by default all your staff and members too.  That said if a member of your team wants to attend an event there would be a £10 + vat pp charge if the venue charges us.

The short answer is no. From experience people that want to join on a 3-month trial tend to push sales on to the members and are overly aggressive with it.  This is not the environment we have created.  Plus, it takes more than 3 months to form lasting business relationships.

We also know that it takes a lot of time in the first few months supporting you and promoting you, not only across all our members, but also across all our social media channels to.

We are committing to you and your business, and we feel it only fair you show commitment too.

That is fine as we know there are other things that go on in business and in life.  This is why we organise lots of different types of events over the month both during the day and evening.  Plus, you have the online portals to engage with and of website to post all your articles and blogs.

We do.  We love our social events. These may simply be a gathering after work, an activity event or even a ramble/walk on a weekend.  Great for connecting in an informal and relaxing environment.

Our sub-groups are a bit like your traditional groups, in that we only have one sector represented, however, that's as far as it goes.

In our sub-groups there is no pressure from us to bring in referrals, we do not operate a points scoring system and we do not have league tables. Plus, we do not insist on you bringing a substitute to take your place if you cannot make meeting.

We have called these sub-groups as there are just that - a sub-group of the main group.

In the Business Culture HEY we do not exclude same sector businesses - in fact we encourage it.  This then allows for collaboration plus, it gives our members a choice on who they wish to work with.

First, we do not call ourselves a networking group.  We call ourselves a Business Club. This is because there are lots of benefits and lots of things to get involved with.  Plus, unlike some traditional networking groups, we run the business full time.  Most traditional groups run the same type of meeting each week or month and that's it.

You can go to one of these meetings and you know exactly what you are getting.  We on the other hand run several different types of events/meetings.  Usually, 5 per month.  Plus, our members have direct access to our website to post articles/blogs as well as access to our LinkedIn members only group.

Our team is also on hand 24/7 to help and support our members, direct them to another member should that be needed or simply be there to listen.

We currently have 2 sub-groups - Marvell and Venn.  These are like most traditional groups in that we only have one sector represented, however, that is as far as it goes.

In the sub-groups there is no pressure from us to bring in referrals, we do not operate a points system, and we do not have league tables plus, we do not insist on you bringing a substitute to take your place if you cannot make meeting.  We have called these sub-groups as there are just that - a sub-group of the main group.

Only if your sector is not covered.  These are like most traditional groups in that we only have one sector represented, however, that is as far as it goes.

Spread the word:
Of cause you can. All we ask is that you speak to us first.
Yes. You and or your marketing team have full access to our website. This is a massive benefit to your business membership. Not only does it help raise your business profile but helps with your own website ranking.

Plus, once posted our marketing team will promote them across all our social media channels, whereby, giving you more exposure.
Great question. You can of course post directly on your website too. The biggest benefit of posting on our website is that once posted our marketing team then share your post/article across all our social media channels. This then gives you more exposure and helps raise your business profile event further.
Anytime. We are always here to help you and your business. Our WHY is 'We believe no one should feel alone in business'.

This is probably where we spend a lot of our time - talking to members. This does not have to only be about business. We are here to help you and your family. Call us when you need to.

Absolutely.  Your business is the member, therefore, by default all your team members are too.

This means that any one in your business has access to all the benefits.  If they need help with a Will for example or financial planning, buying, and selling a house or on a personal wellbeing level - we are here to help.

We are not like a traditional group that meet on a particular day of the week. We run several different meetings/events throughout the month, each being different.

Happy to chat about these or you can look at our events page.

https://thebusinessculture.co.uk/hey/events/

Marvell - one of our sub-groups - do meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday monthly from 7:30am - 9am but most of our other events/meetings are either during the day or on an evening.

Happy to chat about these.

Yes.  One of the benefits of the Business Membership is that you have direct access to our website to not only publish your articles and blogs but also add your events to our 'events' page.  Once published our marketing team will then promote them across all our social media channels and our members.

We do. We have an ambassador team that any member can talk to in confidence. The role of our Ambassadors is to support our members, field questions and report back to us on a regular basis.

This is a link to our Ambassadors

Yes.  One of our key roles is to help and support you and to make introductions.  This can either be across the membership or across our little black books.

Once we understand what type of connections you are looking for, we can go to work identifying those connections for you.

Lol. Our job is to be out-and-about all the time.

This is how we promote our members products and services and make them new connections.

This is also how we grow our brand.

Yes.  the Business Culture HEY is our full-time business and we own it.  We are not a franchise.

We have no other outside distractions.  We, therefore, have a personal stake in ensuring we make this business the best it can be for us and more importantly for you.

We tend not to have a set start and end time.

There are times we are at events from early in the morning until very late in the evening, however, we are always available to talk.

Absolutely. Our website is for your business to use. This might be for your internal team or your external marketing/PR/team.

This can be a challenge as we appreciate you may have a lot going on in your business.  This is why we allow access to any member of your internal team or external marketing team.

Although the website is a great resource to raise your business profile there are lots of other ways to connect and engage with your fellow members - attend our events or engage online in our LinkedIn members only group.

You are not alone.  This is why we organise lots of different types of events. Our big events can have over 100 plus people in the room which can be scary, but we also have events of up to 12. These are called our roundtable support groups and sub-groups. Plus, we never let you walk in alone or leave you hanging.  This is why we have ambassadors at all our events. Our ambassadors will be your buddy on the day.

No. We built the business to be all inclusive and this includes welcoming same sector businesses. We feel this encourages collaboration while at the same time gives the members a choice of who they wish to work with.

Good question. Apart from there being a slight difference in the monthly subscriptions the main difference is 'Simply Networking' only gets you into one of our sub-groups should your sector be available.  The 'Business Membership' gets you everything we offer - invites to all the events we organise, direct access to our website to post your articles and blogs, access to our LinkedIn members only group, access to the support team 24/7 plus, plus our marketing team is out there making introductions for you.

No.  If you are a trade Business Member you are automatically added to the Trade online directory at no extra cost.

The £15 + vat membership is called 'Website Membership'.  This means that you can list your business on our website.

As a Business Member you can advertise 1 job on our jobs board.  Once posted our marketing team will promote across all our social media channels.

As a Business Member you can advertise 1 property on our property board.  Once posted our marketing team will promote across all our social media channels.

Possibly. Some of our members do offer discounts for fellow members but this is at their discretion. It is always worth asking.

Yes.  We have a section on our website called 'Offers'. This is where you can sell and promote your products and services.  Once published our marketing team will promote across all our social media channels.

Our ambassadors are there for you to talk to, to support you and to report back to us if they feel something has gone wrong or to suggest any changes they feel may benefit the club.

For the group to grow we encourage all our members to talk about the Business Culture HEY and bring on more members.

This not only helps grow the business but gives our existing members more people to connect with.

We do have a membership incentive program as a way of saying thank you. this is a link to the program...

https://thebusinessculture.co.uk/hey/member-incentive-programme/

Yes, you can.  We have several sponsorship packages from: your logo on our website, sponsoring our events, sponsoring our emails and lots more.

Check out this link for a complete list.

https://thebusinessculture.co.uk/hey/sponsorship/

We started trading on January 2016 although the business was formed in October 2015.

Each year we have grown in numbers.  As of June 2025, we have 171 business members and 6,012 individual members.

We changed the name from Hull to HEY in 2024.

What we realised was that people assumed we only operated in Hull because Hull was in the name.  This then stopped people connecting with us. So, we change to HEY (Hull & East Yorkshire) and although this has attracted more people it’s still not correct.

We do not have a geographical area as anyone can join the club. The only question we ask a potential member is 'are you willing to help and support a fellow member if they need help and support'.  If the answer is 'yes' we are welcome no matter where your business is based.  By saying this it automatically builds a community of people that are willing to support each other.

We run lots of different types of events from speaker events to open networking events, from social events to roundtable support groups, from sub-groups to VIP private dining clubs.  All designed to be different because we know people are different.

No, although we have built the model to push across the UK.  If you are interested in taking our model and becoming our first franchisee then let’s have a chat.
