At ACA, we believe creativity goes beyond design; it’s a way of seeing the world. Our recent Lunch & Learn session was particularly inspiring, as our Administrator, Andrea, shared her passion for photography and how it connects to architecture.
During the session, Andrea introduced the fundamentals of photography, focusing on the exposure triangle — aperture, shutter speed, and ISO —explaining how these elements work together to create the perfect shot. She demonstrated how adjusting these settings affects light, motion, and depth of field, helping us grasp the basics of capturing high-quality images, such as the one of the Allam Diabetes Centre.
Andrea also emphasised the importance of composition, teaching techniques like the rule of thirds, leading lines, and framing to enhance an image. She explained how these principles are crucial not just in photography but also in architecture, where balance and perspective are key to capturing spaces effectively.
As a passionate photographer, Andrea’s enthusiasm was contagious! Her insights deepened our appreciation for photography and inspired us to think creatively about visual storytelling, an essential skill in architecture and design.
