Refurbishing our community computer suite.

Unity in Community is a Community Development Trust for the HU6 area of North Hull, formed in 1997.

Our objectives are to create and increase opportunities for local residents through employment initiatives, business coaching and training courses.

The training facility includes a community computer suite which provides free access to the Internet, a large variety of free training courses, employment support and we are also pleased to have many success stories; having helped people to help themselves and to achieve the things they want, to take them on to the next stage in their lives.

Now that our computer suite is 10 years old it is due for a much-needed upgrade. So we are hoping to raise the money necessary to buy new workstations, desks and seating.

We need £10,000 in order to refurbish the computer suite and would be grateful for your kind contributions.

What our service users have to say about the facility:

“After suffering from a stroke Unity did not have to carry on teaching me with the difficulties it left me with, but they did and to be honest without their support and encouragement (even though i put the work in to it too), I could not have got through it without them! They were amazing and for me it was a privilege to be a part of the centre and the courses that they offer for people who are seeking employment and to be able improve their skills. Anyone who wants to improve and learn new skills, Unity is the place to learn them with the best staff giving 150% commitment to all who venture through their doors. You will be guaranteed support and will achieve your goals! They worked so hard along side of me realising my difficulties and found away for me to be able to tackle and overcome them. I now feel much more confident about using the internet in my everyday from searching for a job to making appointments.” – Sheila

“Thank-you for all your help to use the computer both in looking for a job, training and volunteer work. I was very nervous of using a computer as I do not have one at home. I enjoyed Learn my way. Email was a complete mystery to me and needed help to work it. Really want to say how helpful and friendly the lady assistant in I.T. is. I wish to thank you again.” – Kathleen

“Unity in community helped me with basic computer skills by taking it stage by stage & not over loading me with the computer knowledge. Thanks to them I am more confident & have more computer skills which helps with job search & other things in life.” – Mark
