New addition boosts James Legal’s commercial capability

James Legal has this week welcomed another new addition to its business law team, as part of its continued expansion.

Byron Swarbrick, formally of Andrew Jackson Solicitors, has now joined James Legal at its Hull office.

His arrival bolsters the support and services James Legal offers to its business clients.

Solicitor Byron’s appointment is one of several planned for this year and next, as James Legal – which prides itself in taking a ‘fresh approach’ to law – continues to grow in pursuit of helping even more businesses.

Doncaster-born Byron, who graduated from the University of Hull and lives in the city, said he is excited by the new career challenge, as well as the opportunity to work within a very well-respected local legal business that is constantly refining its services to suit the needs of its clients.

“Having qualified as a lawyer five years ago, I’m ready to step things up yet another gear and extend my own client base and case load by offering commercial advice and assistance to business clients in that very supportive way typical of James legal and its ‘fresh approach’,” said Byron.

“I really love the ethos and morals of James Legal, and its vibrant team of ‘real’ people. I share its commitment to doing the very best by its clients and offering more than just legal advice, but real world, common sense business assistance.

“Having chance to be part of that and support the next part of the firm’s evolution is fantastic for me.”

James Legal, which was first established in 2009, has recently expanded into a second office in Lairgate, in Beverley, with plans to widen its reach across East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, and expand its workforce by a quarter over the next two years.

Managing Director Nick Miller said: “Taking on talented, driven lawyers like Byron, who focus on our clients’ needs, and giving them a chance to shine and be all they can be, is what we’re all about at James Legal.

“These are very exciting times for our firm and Byron has all the qualities we look for in members of our team – drive, commitment, down-to-earth likability and – above all – a sense of humour. I look forward to him becoming a real asset and bringing considerable value to our team and clients.”

Byron specialises in corporate/commercial law – what this really means is anything a business might need but it includes such things as company disposals and acquisitions, company procedures, share rights and shareholder arrangements, as well as assisting business start-ups and forming new companies. Byron also has employment law expertise, including contracts and dispute resolution.

James Legal’s founding ethos is based on taking a fresh approach to law and being ‘people first and lawyers second’. Nick is passionate about this cause, and the firm’s mission is to help change some of the less positive perceptions some have of the traditional legal industry. He believes it is these beliefs that have contributed to its success.

Specialising in business law, his team take a ‘walking with them’ approach, providing a full range of support to all their clients – with expertise in all aspects of business development as well as law. With creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit running though James Legal they find themselves a magnet for other likeminded businesses and people, resulting in a ‘win-win’ for both.
