Special Stars Foundation is a registered charity supporting people with disabilities and their families, in Hull and East Yorkshire. (Registered Charity number: 1156237).
We provide a diverse range of inclusive and accessible activities for people with disabilities and their families, with the aim of reducing social isolation. In addition, we offer a range of support, training and advice services for parent carers, such as; Makaton and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) workshops and seminars on sleep problems and legal matters, practical support to complete disability specific benefit and grant applications and important therapies such as Physiotherapy and Counselling.
Special Stars Foundation believes that no one should miss out on an active and full life because of their disability and aim to reduce the negative stigma around disability and to promote inclusion in the local community. In addition, we aim to empower parent carers by providing them with the training and support services they need to give the disabled person that they care for and their family as a whole the best possible quality of life.
We currently have a range of volunteering opportunities available;
– Play Support Workers
– Event Support Staff
– Administration Staff
– Collection Box Coordinators
YOU can choose the hours you work (as little as a few hours a month to 20 hours a week and anything in-between!)
Giving back to a small, volunteer led charity is very rewarding. All of our volunteers are well supported in their roles, with full training given and opportunities for development and training as well as gaining experience and learning new skills
