After a challenging start, with delays due to Covid19, construction of ACA’s latest new build care home has started on site.
The new care home, on behalf of Choice Care Group, is located in the Fishbourne Conservation area. It will cater for a small group of 10 people with complex needs including Learning Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health conditions. Based in a small village location, the residents can live in a safe and individually supportive environment with the choice to involve themselves in the community as much or as little as they wish. Thus retaining independence, dignity and an active lifestyle.
As a result of the lockdown delays, the ACA design team seized the opportunity to review the original design in light of the developing situation with the Coronavirus.
For instance, social distancing presents a challenge for a small group of residents with complex needs. The use of PPE and enhanced cleaning regimes will be put in place which will require extra storage capacity.
The provision of self-contained apartments, designed to feel therapeutic and homely, will support isolation requirements when required. Larger bedrooms will also future proof the environment to accommodate hospital size beds if required.
