We also campaign to improve services, raise awareness, and promote understanding.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2015 by brain injury survivor - Paul Spence, P.A.U.L for Brain Recovery is a non-profit, community-based support service created to make life easier after acquired brain injury (ABI).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>5,000 hospital admissions for brain injury for people living in Hull and East Riding postcodes**<\/li>\n<li>In the UK, every 90 seconds, there is a hospital admission for ABI*<\/li>\n<li>ABI is a leading cause of death and disability in the UK, 1.3 million people in the UK are living with brain injury related disabilities*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We provide specialist community support sessions designed to aid a better recovery and help our service users take positive steps towards reaching their new potential after brain injury. These sessions incorporate dedicated one-to-one, physical, and social engagement sessions and education workshops to support emotional and physical well-being.<\/p>\n<p>Support plans aim to minimise the long-term effects of brain injury and optimise recovery. This can combine any of the following free sessions and activities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SOCIAL ACTIVITIES - social sessions, outings, day trips<\/li>\n<li>HEALTH &amp; WELL-BEING - allotment, yoga, gym, walking groups<\/li>\n<li>FAMILY SUPPORT - helping everyone affected<\/li>\n<li>ONE-TO-ONE &amp; GROUP EDUCATION - healthy lifestyle choices, self-care, confidence, coping strategies, the brain and recovery<\/li>\n<li>PEER SUPPORT - connecting survivors<\/li>\n<li>ADVOCACY SUPPORT - assistance with accessing other relevant support\/services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our free sessions and activities ultimately help service users to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Avoid crisis<\/li>\n<li>Manage a life-changing disability, which can often be \u2018invisible\u2019 to others<\/li>\n<li>Learn to accept that they have a chronic condition<\/li>\n<li>Feel understood and supported amongst new friends who share a similar lived experience<\/li>\n<li>Improve the quality of life and reach their new potential<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We also campaign to improve services, raise awareness, and promote understanding.
