{"id":6428,"date":"2020-07-14T15:29:40","date_gmt":"2020-07-14T15:29:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thebusinessculture.co.uk\/hey\/sight-support-hey-funding-success\/"},"modified":"2020-07-20T19:29:19","modified_gmt":"2020-07-20T19:29:19","slug":"sight-support-hey-funding-success","status":"publish","type":"good-news","link":"https:\/\/thebusinessculture.co.uk\/hey\/good-news\/sight-support-hey-funding-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Sight Support HEY funding success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This Good News Article was published by Angela Gregory from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sightsupport.org\">Sight Support.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sightsupport.org\/\">https:\/\/www.sightsupport.org\/<\/a>Sight Support HEY has been awarded \u00a34,600 of National Lottery funding from Sport England\u2019s Tackling Inequalities Fund to develop outdoor activity sessions including tennis and outdoor exercise groups for visually impaired people to help reduce the negative impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on their activity levels.<\/p>\n<p>With a strong understanding of the needs and issues in their areas, Sport England has initially channelled \u00a33.3m through the 43 Active Partnerships across England to support community groups in their areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe liaised closely with <a href=\"https:\/\/activehumber.co.uk\/\">https:\/\/activehumber.co.uk\/<\/a>on our proposal, \u201csays Sight Support HEY\u2019s Fundraising Manager, Angela Gregory. \u201cTheir support meant the application itself was incredibly straight forward and we received a decision within days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am delighted and extremely grateful to Sport England and Active Humber for supporting us in this project,\u201d says Roy Turnham, SocialEYES Coordinator at the charity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhilst the current government guidelines have allowed for people to return to a level of group activity, this remains a challenging and stressful experience for many of those with sight-loss, particularly in the unpredictable environment of busy public places.
