She had two children, one of whom was born prematurely, and was left with learning and physical disabilities. She was an avid advocate for the disabled, and those unable to care for themselves.

After being diagnosed with cancer, she channelled her energies into raising awareness of Breast Cancer, and assisting others who had been diagnosed, by supporting, motivating, and raising monies by fund raising events.

Kerry refused to be defined by her illness, and even though she knew what the outcome would be, she lived her life to the full, and continued to be an inspiration to those around her. She would never have described herself as being special or extraordinary in any way, but that is how others saw her.

She fought bravely for 7 years. Following her death in February 2013, the Kerry Key Foundation was formed, in an endeavour to continue the charitable work in her name. They are a registered charity and all monies amassed will be forwarded to the charities Kerry supported. These include The Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Hull & East Riding Breast Friends, St Anne’s Community School, and Cancer Research UK.

The KKF is run by Kerry’s friends and family, who give their time and fund raising efforts voluntarily. No one is paid to do anything and every penny raised goes directly to other causes. Encompass will be holding various fundraising events throughout the year in order to support this worthy, local charity.

For more details on events organised by the KKF, and details about how you could support them, please visit their website at http://www.kerrykeyfoundation.org.uk/

At Encompass, we are delighted to announce that our Charity of the Year 2019 is the Kerry Key Foundation.
