{"id":2887,"date":"2017-10-24T15:07:26","date_gmt":"2017-10-24T15:07:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thebusinessculture.co.uk\/hey\/?p=2887"},"modified":"2022-05-28T15:15:24","modified_gmt":"2022-05-28T15:15:24","slug":"hull-solicitors-firm-shortlisted-for-prestigious-legal-awards","status":"publish","type":"good-news","link":"https:\/\/thebusinessculture.co.uk\/hey\/good-news\/hull-solicitors-firm-shortlisted-for-prestigious-legal-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"HULL SOLICITORS FIRM SHORTLISTED FOR PRESTIGIOUS LEGAL AWARDS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jameslegal.co.uk\/\">James Legal Solicitors<\/a> in Hull has been shortlisted as being among the top firms in Yorkshire, in three categories of a prestigious regional legal awards.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The cutting-edge firm, based in Hull, got down to the final nominees in the Yorkshire Legal Awards\u2019 \u2018Managing Partner of the Year\u2019, \u2018Pro-bono\u2019 and \u2018Law Firm 1-10 Partners\u2019 categories.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They attended a glittering ceremony at Leeds\u2019 New Dock Hall on 12 October, hosted by BBC Breakfast sports correspondent \u2013 and 2009 Strictly Come Dancing winner \u2013 Chris Hollins.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is the 16<sup>th<\/sup> year of the Yorkshire Legal Awards, which mark the pinnacle of the Yorkshire legal industry annual events calendar and although James Legal didn\u2019t win, being recognised amongst dozens of their peers was a real honour, according to the firm\u2019s Managing Director and Solicitor Nick Miller.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Awards organiser Paul Bunce said: \u201cOur regional legal awards was established in 2000 and is now very well established and regarded in the industry.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaking it onto our shortlist is an achievement in itself, and one of which the James Legal team can feel justifiably proud.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>James Legal Managing Director and Solicitor Nick Miller, who was nominated in the Managing Partner of the Year category, established James Legal in 2009 as a firm of two solicitors, specialising in business law, and it has since grown tenfold. The awards nomination highlighted his passion and vision for the firm, which is centred on taking a \u2018fresh approach to law\u2019 and being \u2018people first and lawyers second\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Nick is also driven by contributing to the development and modernisation of the legal industry, by leading a practice where out-of-hours availability, approachability, fee transparency and a commitment to advising clients on what is in their best interests \u2013 even if that is not profit-making legal work \u2013 is the standard.<\/p>\n<p>A successful entrepreneur and outstanding lawyer himself, Nick is driven by offering 360-degree support to companies, which includes help with their business development as well as legal needs. He has built an outstanding and committed team who champion his vision of combining commitment and results, with the human touch, and \u2018treating every client like a VIP\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The nomination in the \u2018Legal Firm \u2013 1-10 Partners\u2019 category, focused on the firm\u2019s growth, from just two solicitors to employing 21 people \u2013 ranging from solicitors to trainees and apprentices.<\/p>\n<p>The nomination focused largely on the team\u2019s particular specialisms in business, commercial, litigation, dispute resolution and commercial property, while also recognising how they help businesses to flourish, while also servicing their business clients\u2019 own needs through personal law including family matters, Wills and probate and residential conveyancing.<\/p>\n<p>The nomination in the \u2018Pro-bono\u2019 category focused on James Legal\u2019s extensive contribution to its regional community.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past 18 months, this has included offering free help worth more than \u00a355,000 to families, as well as producing 300 \u2018free\u2019 Wills with several charities, raising donations worth a total of almost \u00a314,000 for over 50 good causes like Hull\u2019s Dove House Hospice.<\/p>\n<p>James Legal\u2019s groundbreaking James Legal - The Business 2017 campaign is its major strategic corporate social responsibility initiative, which is acting as a catalyst for business prosperity locally.<\/p>\n<p>This campaign has so far directly involved almost 150 local business people and includes educational and informative content, free quarterly masterclasses featuring high profile speakers, and packages of business support worth \u00a345,000 for the two winning companies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the awards shortlisting, Nick said: \u201cI\u2019m delighted about this recognition, mainly for our team, who are lovely people, fantastically talented and utterly committed to what they do.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are motivated by offering people the best possible legal support.
