Vice Captain Neil Thompson, who will become Club Captain next year, has chosen the local medical research charity to support its Scan for Life campaign, which is raising funds for a new digital PET-CT scanner at Castle Hill Hospital.

Neil, who has been a member of Brough Golf Club since 2012, said choosing The Daisy Appeal was an easy decision.

A key part of the Captain’s role is to nominate a charity to support throughout the year, and for me, choosing The Daisy Appeal was an easy decision.

Most of us have been affected by cancer, heart disease or dementia, whether personally or through family and friends. The Daisy Appeal’s work is a truly exciting and vital initiative, and I am proud that Brough Golf Club can play its part in supporting the community.

I am very proud that Brough Golf Club has chosen The Daisy Appeal as our charity for the year.

The Daisy Appeal is particularly meaningful to me because of everything it does for people in our local community. The support, care and research it provides make a real difference to so many lives and to families when they need it most.

I am looking forward to working together throughout the year and raising as much money as possible for this worthwhile local charity. We are grateful for the support of everyone at the club and across our wider community.

We are incredibly grateful to Neil and everyone at Brough Golf Club for choosing to support The Daisy Appeal during the Captain’s Charity year.

Local fundraising is vital to the success of our Scan for Life campaign to install a new digital PET-CT scanner at Castle Hill Hospital. Partnerships such as this not only help raise essential funds, but also increase awareness that this life-changing scanning service is provided by a local charity rather than as part of standard NHS provision.

We are delighted that Brough Golf Club will be helping us bring the benefits of earlier, more accurate diagnosis to more patients and families across our region.

                                Supporting local patients and families

The Daisy Appeal’s Scan for Life campaign is raising £3 million for a digital PET-CT scanner at Castle Hill Hospital. The scanner will support faster and more accurate diagnosis for people across Hull, East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire who are affected by conditions including cancer, heart disease and dementia.

For almost 20 years, The Daisy Appeal has invested in pioneering local facilities, medical research and imaging technology to improve diagnosis, treatment and outcomes for patients across the region.

Having spent my whole working career in football, as a player, coach and manager, this feels like the perfect opportunity to give something back.

We have a fantastic year planned, and I hope Brough Golf Club members, friends and supporters will join us in raising as much as possible for this important local cause.
