Award-winning entrepreneur and psychotherapist, Alexis Powell-Howard of Fortis Therapy & Training, has been selected to feature on the global speaking platform TED Talks following a thought-provoking presentation about the power of therapy and professional mental health support.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Founder and Managing Director of Lincolnshire-based Fortis Therapy & Training, a multi-award-winning therapeutic and emotional well-being service, was invited to appear at TEDxPatras in Greece at the end of last year. With the over-arching theme of metamorphosis, Alexis delivered an inspiring talk<\/a> about the impact of engaging in a powerful therapeutic relationship for self-awareness and growth.<\/p>\n

TED is a global community that spreads ideas through impactful and informative talks, with TEDx events serving as independent, locally organised versions of the main conference. TED, which boasts over 37 million subscribers on its YouTube channel, said that Alexis\u2019 talk represented a \u201cvaluable and timely idea for [their] audience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Commenting about her experience in Greece and subsequent profiling by TED Talks, Alexis comments:<\/p>\n

\u201cI still can\u2019t quite believe that my TEDxPatras talk has been hand-selected by TED to be published on their channel, to millions of subscribers<\/strong>. To write and present a TEDx talk is always challenging and thought-provoking: it\u2019s a process that involves excitement, uncertainty, and then utterly loving every minute on stage.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The release of Alexis\u2019 talk comes just days after a recent study by charity Mind, in line with Time To Talk Day 2023, showed that 20 million people in Britain suffer in silence daily. The disturbing statistics revealed that a third of adults fail to make time to speak about their troubles, with a quarter worrying that they\u2019ll be judged for opening up. In the same study, a third of people believe more accessible mental health support services would help.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am passionate about delivering high quality, effective, and accessible therapeutic services\u2026 it\u2019s the reason that I set up Fortis a decade ago. Now, more than ever, we must focus on our mental and emotional health and wellbeing \u2013 modern living priorities, the wider economic landscape\u2026 it all impacts our growth and development.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cAs a subject close to my heart, having experienced the power of therapy for the clients we support at Fortis, having this talk selected by TED, to me, is an amazing way of hopefully getting the message out there,\u201d<\/em> Alexis adds.<\/p>\n
