A business that has pioneered the development of communications and IT services in Hull and East Yorkshire since 1904 is stepping up to play a major role in an event inspiring the future digital skills base.<\/p>\n

KCom will be the leading connectivity partner for Tech Week Humber, a week-long festival of events that returns on Monday, November 7. It will highlight products and services from exhibitors in industry and education.<\/p>\n

Tech Week Humber's backing is part of a programme of activities to mark the tenth anniversary of the launch of KCom's Lightstream full fibre broadband<\/a>, which has transformed technology across the region.<\/p>\n

Neil Bartholomew, KCom retail managing director, said: \u201cWe\u2019re delighted to be partnering with Tech Week Humber again for a fantastic week of events that will showcase the pioneering spirit of the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a company that\u2019s been at the heart of the local community for nearly 120 years, it\u2019s always great to participate in events like this that promote local talent and give the next generation of tech innovators a helping hand to achieve great things.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn a year when we\u2019re celebrating the tenth anniversary of our Lightstream full fibre broadband, we know how important it is to keep pushing the boundaries of tech that\u2019s given our region a worldwide reputation for excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n

KCom\u2019s original \u00a385 million fibre rollout made Hull the UK\u2019s first digital city. The company\u2019s subsequent \u00a3100 million expansion programme extends the benefits of FTTP broadband, with the full fibre footprint covering around 300,000 homes and businesses.<\/p>\n

The flagship event of\u00a0Tech Week Humber<\/a>\u00a0will be Tech Expo, which takes place at the MKM Stadium from 10am on Tuesday, November 8, and will feature sessions on emerging tech, diversity and inclusion, skills for the future and innovation in the Humber.<\/p>\n

The Educators Conference, sponsored by Hull College, is a new event for 2022. It will happen on Wednesday, November 9 at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Hull.<\/p>\n

Tech Week Humber education days will take place at Wilberforce College and Hull College on Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n

IBM Z will run mini hackathons in both education days. Other Tech Week Humber partners include Evoke Technologies, Phoenix Software and Hull City Council.<\/p>\n
